Start Small
Trying to change your entire diet in one day is just setting yourself up to fail. Improving the health of New Zealanders from Auckland to Dunedin is a very important goal but trying to live healthy lifestyle overnight just isn’t a reasonable goal. Start small. When it comes to breakfast, try to pick something that is good for you and contains more than one food group such as a veggie omelet with turkey sausage and orange juice. That is a nice healthy breakfast and it tastes good too. Do this with all of your meals. Try to pick options that are healthy and include as many food groups as you can. When it comes to snacks, instead of picking something filled with sugar, have some fruit or a nice salad with lots of colors. You don’t need to make all of these changes in one day. Doing it more gradually will make improving the health of New Zealanders easier. Before you know it you will be eating healthy all the time. Just think of them as small steps, not huge changes towards improving the health of New Zealanders.
Moderation
Try to keep your portions balanced. Not too much, not too little. Improving the health of New Zealanders takes small steps. So start by simply eating a little less than you usually would. You will still be satisfied but not stuffed. Eventually your diet should be a fourth whole grains, a fourth protein, a little more than a fourth vegetable in all varieties possible, and a little less than a fourth fruits. That is a good start for improving the health of New Zealanders. And don’t worry, you aren’t supposed to feel full after a meal. You should feel comfortably fed. Your stomach will become smaller as you eat less causing you to have to eat less before feeling comfortable and the more you do this the more your body learns. With a healthier diet and less food you will be healthy and slimmer in no time.
