Why are some of the pages empty when I go to them?
The pages are empty because no content has been added to that area by a member of the HEHA community. Help everyone working to promote healthy lifestyles by adding your content to the empty sections!
What is the purpose of the website?
The new HEHA website is designed to be a gathering place for everyone in New Zealand working to promote healthy eating, healthy action and healthy lifestyles. The site is based on individuals and organisations sharing what they have learned so that everyone can benefit. Whilst, the Ministry of Health and others will add material to the site, it is expected that most of the new material will come directly from the HEHA community and the users of the website.
What makes this website different from other websites?
This website is designed to be ‘user driven’. The content of the site will primarily come directly from the HEHA community. There are places for discussions, for project reports, for news, for links, for listings of individuals and organisations and a large variety of information that will help everyone be successful in their activities to promote healthy lifestyles in New Zealand.
Within the site, you can easily find the information you want by choosing one of the ‘Areas of Interest’ and then one of the ‘Topics’ within that area and then a content type such as News or Articles or Discussions.
The site looks like it might be hard to use. Is it?
No! Whilst the site contains a large amount of information, finding you way around it is very easy. Just look for your ‘Area of Interest’ and then begin to browse through the content that is available. Our testing has shown us that people can become very familiar with how the site works within five minutes.
Do I have to resister to use the site?
You do not have to register to view any content on the site. However, you do need to register or ‘sign up’ to add content to the site, list your name in the HEHA directory or participate in a discussion. Signing up is easy and takes only a few minutes.
How do I register?
Click on the Sign Up box on the top of every page, fill in the blanks and then click the ‘Register’ button. You will then be sent a confirmation email to the email address you have provided. You must follow the instructions in this email to complete the registration process. From then on, when you go to the site, put in your user name and password and you are ready to go. Most internet browsers will remember the user name and password for you.
What is the directory?
The directory is a listing of people and organisations across New Zealand with an interest in promoting healthy eating, healthy action and healthy lifestyles.
How do I put my information or the information for my organisation in the directory?
Click on the ‘Add New’ button on any page and then choose, add Personal Directory Entry or Organisational Directory Entry. Fill in the spaces, tick the appropriate boxes and click ‘save’.
What are ‘tags’?
A ‘tag’ is a keyword or term associated with a particular piece of content. These tags are created automatically when you add content to the site or can be added by you. Examples of tags used on this site include Maori, nutrition, recreation, youth, health, etc. The tags assigned to each piece of content guide where that content will be visible on the website. Don’t worry if you choose the wrong tag. You can go back and change the tags or add tags for any content you may have added to the site.
How do I add content to the website?
Adding content to the HEHA website is VERY easy. You must be registered to add content but once that is done, just click on the ‘Add New’ button on every page. From there, choose the type of content you wish to add from the ‘drop down box’ (news, event, article, etc.). Next you fill in the boxes by either typing directly in or by pasting from another document if that is easier. You do not have to worry about the format-the site will do that for you. You can add photos or attachments of any kind by choosing that option at the bottom of the page. Then you choose which section or sections of the site you wish your content to be shown on (such as Maori, education, youth, recreation, etc.). Last you click ‘Save” and you are done. There are some small variations depending on the content type for which there are instructions on each page.
What type of content can I add?
Almost anything! The content you can add includes:
- News
- Events
- Articles about what you or others are doing
- Case studies which are longer descriptions of what you or others are doing
- Projects which are descriptions of particular initiatives you are doing. This content type has more ‘tick boxes’ to help you.
- Resources which include a variety of types including patient education materials, links to other websites, videos, key documents, etc.
- Discussions where you can start or participate in an on-line discussion on a variety of topics important to the HEHA community.
Why should I add content to the website?
We can best help New Zealand become a healthier place to live by sharing our information and knowledge with everyone. We need to learn from each other so that we all be more effective and efficient.
How do I participate in on-line discussions?
Simple! You must first be registered for the site and then you just click on the discussion you wish to participate in and enter your thoughts at the bottom of the page in the space provided. When you are finished click ‘Post’ and you are done.
